Afrobeats continues to make global waves, and this time, it’s Davido standing tall once again!
The Nigerian superstar just received a Gold certification plaque from SNEP (Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique) for his contribution to “Gang”, a smash-hit collaboration with French-Malian pop queen Aya Nakamura.
Originally released as part of Aya’s 2018 album Nakamura, “Gang” has now officially sold over 100,000 units in France, earning it Gold status in one of Europe’s most competitive music markets.
For Davido, this isn't his first French win—he’s previously earned certifications for hits like “D&G” and “Fall.” But this one hits different, as it cements his place not just in the Anglophone music world, but also in Francophone pop culture.
> 🌍 “We global for real!” — Davido posted while holding the plaque, proudly repping Nigeria on international soil.
What This Means:
This milestone proves that Afrobeats is no longer just a movement—it's a mainstay in the global music scene. With African artists like Davido collaborating beyond borders and languages, the genre’s impact is deeper than ever.
