Popular American televangelist and gospel musician, Rev. Jimmy Lee Swaggart, has passed away at the age of 90.
His family confirmed the news in a statement released on Tuesday, July 1, noting that Swaggart had "finished his earthly race and entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ."
Swaggart, widely regarded as one of the most influential televangelists of his time, was rushed to a hospital on June 15 after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born in Ferriday, Louisiana, Jimmy Swaggart was a prominent figure in American evangelical circles for decades. He founded Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and established the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College, both headquartered on a large campus along Bluebonnet Boulevard in Baton Rouge.
