🕊️ Governor Fubara Calls for True Reconciliation: “No Price is Too Big for Peace” (GIST)

Port Harcourt, June 29, 2025 — In a bold and emotional address delivered at a meeting with Simplified Stakeholders, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, reaffirmed his commitment to peace, reconciliation, and the collective progress of the state — regardless of political differences or past wounds.

Speaking directly and sincerely, Governor Fubara emphasized that while disagreements are natural in politics, the greater good of Rivers people must come first.

> “If you want to be truthful to yourself, the only solution is peace,” the Governor declared.

“There’s no price that is too big for peace — I meant it, and I’m still ready to follow it to the end.”

Governor Fubara acknowledged the political tension between himself and the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, but described their recent reconciliation efforts as a step in the right direction. He emphasized that true peace isn't something imposed — it's mutual understanding, built through honest dialogue.

> “Yes, we might have our differences… but nobody can wish away the risk Wike took,” he stated.

“If today there’s a need for us to settle, anyone who genuinely believes in me should understand that it’s the right thing to do.”

The Governor also expressed deep concern over how the prolonged political feud has impacted development across the state.

> “Look at the projects we’ve initiated. Many have been abandoned,” he said.

“We know the progress we would have recorded... There’s need for this peace — that’s the truth.”

In a heartfelt pledge, he reassured stakeholders and supporters:

> “I can’t abandon you people… I care for you, and I make my commitment here that whichever way it goes, I will not abandon anybody.”

The Governor concluded with a native parable about the Atabala (Tilapia) fish, symbolizing the wisdom of humility and sacrifice in the journey to lasting growth and peace.

✊ Final Word:

Governor Fubara’s message is more than a speech — it's a statesman’s resolve to put the future of Rivers State above politics. As he rightly said, “What we need now is this peace so that we can grow.”
