Nigeria’s young student-athletes have set the African School Games ablaze with incredible performances, proudly flying the green and white flag high in Algiers, Algeria.
🥇 Gold & Silver in the Girls 200m
Miracle Oluebube Ezechukwu emerged as the new African Schools 200m Champion, storming to victory with a Personal Best time of 23.40s. She led a remarkable 1-2 finish for Team Nigeria, with schoolmate Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo clinching silver in 24.04s.
🥇🥈 Switching Roles in the Sprints
Just days earlier, Nwankwo had taken the 100m Gold ahead of Ezechukwu. This time around, they swapped positions — but ensured the medals remained in Nigeria’s hands.
🥇 Girls Medley Relay Glory
The unstoppable duo of Miracle and Chigozie teamed up with Eniololobo Rebecca and Jecinter Lawrence Andrew to deliver a dominant Gold medal performance in the Girls Medley Relay.
🥈🥈 Silvers for the Boys
Perfect Faye and Mohammed Jimoh added to the medal tally with silver medals in the Boys 200m and Boys High Jump respectively.
🥈 Boys Medley Relay Success
Perfect and Mohammed then joined forces with Emmanuel Akolo and Jesulayomi Ogundijo to secure an impressive silver medal in the Boys Medley Relay.
The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, was present in Algiers, offering unwavering support and encouragement to the young athletes throughout the competition.
