Comes rain, comes sunshine, the momentum of the 2025 Local Government Election campaign in Rivers State continues in Wards 14,15, and 16, Port Harcourt, as Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP, and the mayoral campaign team hit the Mgbunduku community, Port Harcourt.
Speaking to the enthusiastic crowd, Sir Ihunda expressed gratitude to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), Life Bencher, for providing the political platform that enabled him to serve and now seek re-election.
“I fulfilled all my campaign promises in my first tenure. We have laid a solid foundation with landmark projects spread across all 20 wards in Port Harcourt City.”
Sir Ihunda reassured the people of Port Harcourt that his government will continue to deepen good governance and expand opportunities in all sectors, particularly youth empowerment, quality healthcare, and accessible education.

He further commended party leaders, including Hon. Ken Chikere, and other stakeholders, for their unwavering support.
Presentation of Candidates:
In a highlight of the campaign rally, the PDP Chairman in PHALGA and campaign coordinator, Hon. Solomon Ejike Ogbonna, formally presented Sir Allwell Ihunda as the chairmanship candidate, alongside Mr. Ikechi Victor Chinda, Candidate Ward 1, Mr Anthony Ichebadu Ogolo, Candidate Ward 9, and Mr. Fimie Daniel Kayode Ibuomie, Candidate Ward 20, respectively, to the good people of the Wards.
Track Record of Achievements:
Sir Allwell Ihunda’s first tenure has been widely acknowledged as impactful, with more than 35 landmark projects executed across PHALGA’s 20 wards. These include:
Healthcare & Education: Construction of the Port Harcourt City Council Healthcare Centre, renovation of schools in Orogbum, D-Line, and Old Township, a 200-seat capacity hall at Nkpolu Oroworukwo Secondary School, an NYSC lodge, and scholarship programmes for youths at Charkin Maritime Academy.
Infrastructure & Urban Renewal: Reconstruction of Ohiamini Street with solar streetlights, erosion control projects in Rumuwoji and Elekahia, renovation of Abali and Nkpolu motor parks, and donation of multiple 500KVA transformers to boost electricity.
ICT & Economy: Establishment of the Port Harcourt Digital Tools Mall, Global ICT Centre in Nkpolu Oroworukwo, and an ultra-modern market at Oroworukwo.
Community Development: Construction of Ozuboko Community Hall, 26-room public toilets across Marine Base and Captain Amangala, water projects in several waterfront communities, and installation of solar-powered streetlights in Rumuwoji, Orochiri, Orogbum, and Oroabali.
Human Capital Development: Training of over 1,500 beneficiaries in various skills, with starter packs, empowerment grants for 200 widows, and youth entrepreneurship initiatives across the LGA.
Environmental Sustainability: Vigorous fight against illegal bunkering (kpofire), which significantly reduced soot pollution in Port Harcourt.
Looking Ahead:
With this record, Sir Ihunda urged residents to consolidate on the progress by returning him and PDP councillorship candidates at the polls scheduled for Saturday, 30th August 2025.
“The evidence of progress is visible in every ward. With your mandate, we will build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive Port Harcourt City,” he concluded.
