Bayelsa Murder Case: How George Idumange Betrayed and Killed Real Estate Agent Bright Ekpebu
In a shocking turn of events, Bayelsa State has been thrown into mourning after the brutal murder of Mr. Bright Ekpebu, a respected and popular real estate agent. The alleged killer, Mr. George Idumange, once seen as a well-dressed and reputable individual, has been exposed as the mastermind behind the crime.
How It Happened
Reports reveal that Idumange deceived Bright Ekpebu with claims of having a piece of land for sale. Trusting him, the victim brought in a buyer who paid about ₦11 million. After receiving the money, Idumange failed to provide land documents, raising suspicions.
When Mr. Ekpebu requested a refund, the suspect allegedly lured him to a deserted location in Yenagoa and shot him dead.
Attempt to Cover Up the Crime
Shockingly, Idumange went further to:
Use the victim’s phone to chat with his wife, pretending to be him.
Transfer money from his accounts.
Dump his body in a bush.
Allegedly share part of the proceeds with his girlfriend (now in police custody).
Attempt to escape Nigeria through Lagos Airport, before being arrested.
A Painful Betrayal
What makes this crime even more disturbing is Idumange’s past. He was once an aide to Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and had contested for the position of Financial Secretary in the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC).
The murder of Bright Ekpebu has shocked many in the community, serving as a grim reminder that not all who appear trustworthy have pure intentions.
Final Thoughts
This Bayelsa murder case is a heartbreaking example of how greed and betrayal can destroy lives. As investigations continue, Nigerians are calling for justice for the slain real estate agent.
May God protect His children and guide us to surround ourselves with only genuine people. Amen.
