🚨 Nigeria’s Igbo Community in Ghana Postpones Igbo Day & New Yam Festival After Police Intervention

The Nigerian Igbo community in Ghana on Sunday postponed its annual Igbo Day and New Yam Festival in Accra after police intervention halted the event. Ghana’s Ga traditional authorities raised concerns over cultural sovereignty and potential clashes between Ghanaians and Nigerians.

Eze Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, leader of the Igbo Community in Ghana, announced that the festival will be rescheduled to a later date. He stressed that the community is committed to unity and positive relations with local authorities.

The postponement comes amid controversy surrounding proposals to establish an Igbo kingdom in Ghana, a move that has sparked debates among both Nigerians and Ghanaians.
