Rivers Politics: House of Assembly to Probe Ibas, Call on Governor Fubara to Present Appropriation Bill
The Rivers State House of Assembly, at its plenary today, reached key resolutions aimed at strengthening governance and restoring democratic order in the state.
Resolutions Adopted:
1. Commended the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for restoring democratic institutions in Rivers State.
2. Declared that the House would continue to abide by the terms of the peace parley and uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the interest of peace and good governance.
3. Called on the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, to forward the list of nominees for appointment as Commissioners into the State Executive Council in line with constitutional provisions and the peace accord.
4. Urged the Governor to immediately commence the process of presenting an appropriation law for the remaining part of the year to address current realities.
5. Resolved to probe activities of the last six months, particularly concerning the award of contracts and expenditures from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State.
6. Directed that the House should immediately outline its legislative agenda for the remaining part of the third session of the 10th Assembly to reflect present realities.
