Abia Airport Controversy: Otti to Ikpeazu — “Return Our ₦10bn or Give Us the Airport Now”
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has intensified calls for accountability, demanding that former governor and Tinubu’s ambassorial designate, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, either refund the alleged ₦10 billion earmarked for an Abia airport project or deliver the airport itself.
Governor Otti insists that records from his administration’s review show a massive payment for an airport that does not physically exist, stressing that Abia people deserve answers. He maintains that the issue is not political witch-hunting but a matter of transparency and responsible governance.
Ikpeazu, however, has denied the allegation, stating that no such airport contract was executed and that funds were redirected to other approved projects during his tenure.
The standoff has sparked widespread debate across Abia State, with citizens demanding clarity on how public funds were used and calling for the truth to be fully disclosed.
