VeryDarkMan Issues 1-Week Ultimatum to Ahoada Chairman to Renovate Dilapidated Community School
Popular Nigerian activist and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Eugene Chita Epelle, demanding the urgent renovation of a deteriorating community school in Odiokwu.
In a video shared online on Thursday, VeryDarkMan condemned the poor condition of Community Secondary School, Odiokwu, describing the situation as unacceptable for students and teachers who rely on the facility for education.
Allegations of Assault Spark Public Outrage
The controversy began after a young resident, Ogadinma Minnie Uchechi (also known as Winnie Uchechi), posted photos and videos on February 26, 2026, revealing the alarming state of the school. According to her post, the classrooms have cracked walls, leaking roofs, and unsafe learning conditions.
However, the situation escalated when the local government chairman allegedly visited the girl's home three days later and physically assaulted her, reportedly accusing her of attempting to embarrass him on social media.
The allegations quickly spread online, drawing attention from VeryDarkMan, who publicly condemned the reported act and demanded immediate action.
VeryDarkMan’s 1-Week Deadline
Reacting to the incident, the activist warned that his foundation, the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative (MVOI), would step in if the chairman fails to renovate the school within seven days.
"This is Nigeria. MVOI is giving the local government chairman one week to fix Odiokwu Community Secondary School. If nothing is done, we will come in and fix it ourselves," VeryDarkMan said.
He further added that the same girl who allegedly suffered intimidation would lead the renovation project if the government fails to act, with full funding from his initiative.
Growing Attention on Rivers State Education Infrastructure
The development has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians condemning the alleged assault and expressing concern over the poor state of public education infrastructure in some rural communities in Rivers State.
Residents of Odiokwu say the school is the only secondary institution serving the community, making the deteriorating condition a major concern for parents and students.
VeryDarkMan has previously been involved in community support projects, including funding and overseeing the renovation of public schools in other parts of Nigeria through his foundation.
Authorities Yet to Respond
As of the time of reporting, Hon. Eugene Chita Epelle and the Ahoada West Local Government administration have not issued any official statement regarding the allegations or the ultimatum.
Meanwhile, police authorities in Rivers State are reportedly investigating the alleged assault incident, with both parties invited for questioning.
What Happens Next?
The next few days will determine whether the local government responds to the ultimatum or if VeryDarkMan will proceed with his promised intervention.
For many observers, the situation has already highlighted deeper issues of accountability in local governance and the growing role of social media activists in exposing neglected public infrastructure.
