Elderly Woman Killed in Suspected Cult-Related Attack in Ilogbo, Ekiti State, Nigeria

An 86-year-old woman, popularly known as “Mama Tiwele,” has died following a violent attack by suspected cult members in Ilogbo, Ekiti State.

According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday, 6 March 2026, when unidentified individuals, believed to be associated with a cult group, invaded the residence of the elderly woman.

Sources indicate that the attackers were searching for individuals believed to be connected to a previous incident dating back to 2023. It was reported that one of the persons they were looking for is the granddaughter of the deceased, identified as Oluwafunmilayo, along with members of her family.

During the attack, the elderly woman sustained severe injuries and was later confirmed dead today, 7 March 2026. It was also reported that a minor present at the residence sustained an injury during the incident and has since been relocated to a safer location by family members.

Local residents have expressed concern over ongoing security challenges in the area, including reports of cult-related clashes, intimidation, and attacks on civilians. Community members have called on the authorities to investigate the incident and take measures to improve safety.
