Breaking: Court Grants El-Rufai ₦100 Million Bail, Orders Passport Seizure & Monthly DSS Reporting

Court Grants El-Rufai ₦100 Million Bail, Orders Passport Seizure and Monthly DSS Reporting

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja pending the determination of his ongoing trial.

The court approved bail in the sum of ₦100 million and attached strict conditions to the ruling. As part of the bail terms, El-Rufai was ordered to surrender all his international passports to the court authorities.

In addition, the court directed the former governor to report monthly to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) throughout the duration of the trial.

The ruling came after arguments from both the prosecution and defense teams regarding the bail application filed on behalf of the former governor.

Legal analysts say the court’s decision reflects an attempt to ensure El-Rufai remains available for trial while also preserving his constitutional rights pending the outcome of the case.

The case has continued to attract national attention due to El-Rufai’s influence in Nigerian politics and his role in the country’s recent political landscape.

Observers are now awaiting the next hearing date as proceedings continue at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
