Households Groan as Cooking Gas Price Rises to N2,000 Per Kilogram

Many Nigerian households are struggling to cope as the price of cooking gas, also known as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), has reportedly climbed to nearly N2,000 per kilogram in several parts of the country.

The latest increase has sparked concern among residents and business owners who depend heavily on gas for daily cooking and commercial activities. Many consumers say the rising cost is making life even more difficult amid the country’s current economic challenges and high cost of living.

Residents across different states have lamented that refilling gas cylinders now consumes a significant portion of their income, forcing some families to reduce usage or return to alternative cooking methods such as firewood and charcoal.
